Remove Unwanted Hair with Michigan Laser Hair Removal

Within the last ten years, the technology for hair removal has improved in leaps and bounds. Instead of pulling hair out manually or using blades and razors, doctors can now use lasers to do the job. This method is much more effective and longer lasting than older procedures and results in smooth and silky skin. Our Michigan laser hair removal procedure can be intimidating at first, but here is a detailed guide of our procedure to help put you mind at ease.

Preparation

It is common for our patients to think you need to let the hair in the treated area grow out prior to the laser treatment, but this is not the case. We only ask out patients to forgo tweezing hair, using wax removal or depilatory creams two to three weeks prior to treatment. The treatment area will be cleansed and shaved before the laser treatment and we need to make sure that treatment area is not damaged by harsh treatments prior to the laser hair removal.

Michigan Laser Hair Removal Procedure

Laser hair removal is relatively easy and does not take very long to treat. The typical length of the procedure is a few minutes to a few hours depending on the individual hair type, size of the treatment area, and the degree of treatment needed. The laser will be moved over the treatment area, passing energy through the skin that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. The hair follicles are disabled in less than a second, thereby preventing the follicle from producing more hair. During the procedure, the patient may experience some mild discomfort, but the pain is much less than a typical waxing session. The exposure to the laser may also cause some initial redness during the procedure.

Effects

The effects of the procedure are mild and the patient will not need any recovery time. Since the procedure may cause some discomfort and redness, the patient may feel these immediately after the procedure, but these effects should fade very quickly. After the treatment, the area is cleaned again and the patient is given a topical cream and a skin care regimen depending on their skin type.

These are the steps from preparation to after procedure care. These steps are easy to follow and we make sure that you are completely knowledgeable prior to undergoing any Michigan laser hair removal procedure.
