Y-Lift vs Hour Lift: Which is Right for You?

Over time, the effects of age will start to show on your skin, especially around the face. Even with regular dieting and exercise some individuals may not be able to attain the shape for their face that they want. If you happen to fall in this category, you may wish to seek a facelift procedure. Prior procedures utilized large surgical incisions make significant adjustments to your face. Technology has further improved over time, letting us deliver incredible results without the long recovery period associated with a traditional face lift. The two most popular lifts we currently offer are the Y-Lift and Hour Lift. Here is what you need to know:

Nonsurgical Results with the Y-Lift

For those who are experiencing more mild symptoms of aging around their face, the Y-Lift is a great option. This procedure is named after the Y shape our face resembles during our younger years. The older we get, the more this shape will begin to widen, making your face appear far more aged than you might feel on the inside. The Y-Lift works by providing incredible results without the need for surgery. Instead, a Y-Lift will help to accentuate your cheekbones and jawline to help that Y shape reappear again. No incisions are needed as our experienced surgeons will instead maneuver tissue below the skin to contour a younger shape and appearance. Once the shape has been made, we use hyaluronic acid to keep holding this position. Y-Lifts are a great way to “sculpt” your face to appear younger so you can see your natural beauty again.

More Significant Results with the Hour Lift

If your symptoms of aging are more severe, a Y-Lift may not produce the dramatic results for which you are looking. Instead, you may benefit more from an Hour Lift. This procedure is similar to a traditional face lift but instead can be completed in as little as an hour. The Hour Lift works by having our cosmetic surgeon make incisions in the facial skin. We then tighten your facial muscles to help alleviate symptoms of aging. The primary areas we target are the jowls, cheeks, and neck. Instead of tightening facial muscles, traditional lifts will move them entirely. That requires a significant recovery period and will have a hefty price tag. The Hour Lift has the benefit of a traditional face lift but without the severe recovery time needed. As mentioned, this type of lift is recommended for those needing more significant results than what a Y-Lift can accomplish.

Recovery and Side Effects

The recovery and potential side effects of each procedure will vary. Specifically, the Y-Lift is a minimally invasive treatment that does not use any incisions. This allows individuals to have no recovery time, as they can return to their normal routine right after the procedure ends. Individuals may experience some bruising and swelling after their procedure has been completed, but this will fade in a few days. Results of the Y-Lift are also not permanent and typically hold for one to two years. Whenever you need a touchup, we can provide this incredible procedure again so you can maintain the results you want.

Individuals who receive an Hour Lift will require additional recovery time to fully heal. As it is not a full traditional face lift, you will not need weeks of rest. Instead, patients of the Hour Lift can expect around three days of full recovery. Any incisions made will be sutured up and heal within the first few days before being removed up to eight days later. Several recommendations will be given based upon your treatment. The most significant aspect of your recovery period will be wearing an iced head garment for the first day or two of your recovery.

Cost of the Procedure

Both the Hour Lift and Y-Lift are accessible for all of our patients. The Hour Lift typically costs around $2,900 and is significantly cheaper than a traditional face lift that can average around $15,000. The Y-Lift will cost even less and depends on the extent of the area to be treated; the larger the area, the more the procedure will cost. Insurance companies will typically not cover procedures such as these. However, we offer a variety of ways for you to finance these incredible procedures so you can enjoy the way you look again.

We Can Help You Choose at the Skin & Vein Center

It can be difficult to choose between these two incredible facelift procedures. As discussed, individuals looking for more significant results may do well with the Hour Lift, while individuals hoping for a touchup can benefit from the Y-Lift.
