About Genital Warts
Genital warts (condyloma acuminata) are raised growths or lesions caused by the human papillomavirus. (1) These growths occur on various regions of the genital and anal areas, including but not limited to the vulva, vaginal walls, cervix, perineum, penis, scrotum, groin, and anus. In rare cases, they may also appear in the mouth or throat. (2)
Our no-wait genital wart care focuses on identifying these growths and creating a solution that allows our team to remove them carefully and quickly. By addressing them, you can not only restore the aesthetic appearance of your intimate areas, but you can also improve your personal comfort.
About Human Papillomavirus
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection spread by direct skin-to-skin contact. Over 180 subtypes of HPV exist, but subtypes 6 and 11 cause the most genital warts. This infection typically spreads during sexual activities, with approximately 45.2% of men and 39.9% of women between the ages of 18 and 59 being infected. Despite these high statistics, about 90% of those who are exposed will not develop warts, and only 10% actually transmit the infection to others. (1)

Candidates
If you have developed warts around your penis or vagina that do not respond to home remedies or over-the-counter treatments, you may be a good candidate for no-wait genital wart care. You may also want to consider no-wait genital wart care if the growth or lesion is causing discomfort in your daily life.
To qualify for treatment, you should be in good overall health without any underlying medical conditions that may affect your ability to heal. It is also important that you maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. Your specialist will determine your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Pre-Treatment Consultation
Your no-wait genital wart care begins in a private treatment room, where one of our specialists will conduct a personal consultation. To tailor the care to your needs, they will speak openly with you about your medical history, specifically discussing how long you have had genital warts, past treatments, current medications, and any allergies. They will ask you about your concerns, including any side effects or symptoms that may have developed alongside the warts. They will also perform a physical examination to assess the warts and surrounding areas.
Your specialist will then use this information to confirm that HPV is the underlying cause of the wart and determine the optimal strategy for removal. They will explain each aspect of the procedure and what to expect from your recovery. Following this discussion, they will make the necessary clinical preparations.

Procedure
To start, your specialist will cleanse your skin and administer either a local or topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Following this preparation, they will proceed to perform either cryotherapy or surgical excision.
Cryotherapy
With cryotherapy, your specialist uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart down to its base. This treatment method typically spans multiple sessions, every seven days for a maximum of seven treatments. (3) The repeated freezing will cause the wart to scab and naturally fall off, leaving you with smoother, more even skin. This treatment is an excellent option for addressing larger warts that have been resistant to other methods, as well as for individuals seeking a non-surgical intervention.
Surgical Excision
During surgical excision, your specialist either cuts the base of your wart or shaves it down until the targeted area is even with the surrounding skin. Your specialist will complete this procedure using either a scalpel, scissors, or a surgical spoon (curette), determined during your pre-treatment consultation.
Recovery
The details of your recovery will vary depending on the type of treatment you received, but your specialist will provide you with a detailed set of aftercare guidelines.
You may experience some mild swelling, scabbing, and general discomfort. These side effects will subside on their own within several days, but you may also reduce them with over-the-counter medications and intermittent ice packs. During the first 48 hours of your recovery, you will need to keep the treated area clean, dry, and bandaged, and refrain from applying pressure or submerging. After two days, you should keep the area moisturized using petroleum jelly or an antibiotic cream.
You can expect to resume all normal activities after two weeks, with complete healing of the area taking approximately four weeks.
Results
You will be able to enjoy the results of your procedure once you have fully healed. While outcomes vary for everyone, patients typically experience smoother skin, improved physical comfort, and increased self-confidence.
Please keep in mind that since HPV has no direct cure, warts can return. Should you notice any recurring growths, you can always visit our office for additional treatments as often as necessary.
